Welcome to Jerrysplantsonline.com and the home of the “Hillbilly Gardener”. With more and more of the gardening websites you visit today, it's all about style, flair, wowing your neighbors and the most up-to-date nursery plants and/or in-style decorating trends. What ever happened to just plain old "no-nonsense" love of gardening and being outdoors without the frills? Whatever happened to simple home garden projects? Where did simple backyard outdoor living icongo without the design rules. You know, outdoor living simply for the fun of it – no strings attached. Did simplicity go out of style with last years color scheme?

Here in the Garden of Weedin, backyard outdoor living is about having fun.

The garden can be a wonderful place for having fun.

Whatever happened to, not just frugal gardening, but just being frugal because it's the sensible thing to do? Are we now so affluent, so perception by the neighbors driven that simple inexpensive gardening has become a bygone and socially incorrect thing to do? What happened to outdoor decorating iconsimply because "I like it"? Is the Garden of Weedin now obsolete or archaic simply because the Hillbilly Gardener chooses to practice frugal gardening over “wasteful spending”.

Perhaps, it is possible that simplicity and enjoying the results of simple home garden projects done by my own hands and with a minimum of expenditure or effort are today “pass-ay”, but I for one refuse to believe that every gardener has sold out to the “keep up with the Jones” mentality. Perhaps, it may be a bit romantic of me, but I choose to believe that there are still folks left that enjoy gardening, backyard outdoor living and simple home garden projects simple because they are fun to do and what the neighbors think is not all that important.

My garden journal is posted for everyone to use as a gardener resource for their outdoor living or home garden projects.

Try many projects, but never expect all of the to turn out exactly as you plan. Sometimes, they're better!

Here in the Garden of Weedin, someone is always askin' the Hillbilly Gardener whats that bug? We have many pest control bugs that spark a persons interest.

Is it good - or is it bad? It sure is ugly - so it must be bad. Isn't it?

That is what this website and the Garden of Weedin are all about – simple, common sense, no frills gardening and outdoor living. We will not miss an opportunity to enjoy any aspect of our outdoor world because we are busy trying to observe someone's belief of how to decorate, entertain, landscape or garden. We still get a kick out of hearing a granddaughter ask “what's that bug”, a big pile of fall autumn leaves iconwhen the leaves do fall in that wonderful time of year called fall. Around the Hillbilly shack we have a little sign on the wall that reads - "So it's not Home-Sweet-Home - Adjust!" and that's how we believe that gardening and outdoor living should be lived and experienced.

It is our hope that jerrysplantsonline.com will become a gardener resource for many with its garden advice, plant grow sheets, conversion charts, my garden journal and "no-frills" common sense approach to gardening and being outdoors. Then there are the many varied articles on composting, planting, garden bed rejuvenation, pest control bugs and so much more. A truly frugal gardener can even find advice on seasoning firewood iconto save on heating costs and many, many tips to recycle, save money or just make work easier. But, be advised upfront, this website is chock-full of really simple tips, almost ridiculous tips that all to many folks never think of or forget and once they try them, they're almost ashamed to admit that they've not been doing them for years. But, that's all right. Just go right on ahead and tell everyone that you had an "epiphany" and it just came to you. We're all in this together - so we won't tell. We hope you enjoy and remember - "we're pullin' for ya".
